The Medela Symphony Breast pumps will be used by lactating mothers to stimulate breast milk supply and to express extra breast milk for babies to help them to thrive. When infants are admitted to the Maternity Unit at Queensland Children's Hospital, it is not always possible for breast feeding mothers to leave other children at home so they can return to the hospital to feed their baby. A breast pump would ensure babies could continue to be fed their mother’s breast milk, even when it is not possible for mum to be present at all feeding times.
