JM-105 JAUNDICE DETECTOR, Nepean Hospital, Women and Children's Outpatient Department, NSW (2 needed)
$10,100.00
Jaundice, or yellowing of the skin and eyes, occurs in approximately 50% of full-term and 80% of pre-term babies in their first week of life. It is often an indication of underlying symptoms and as a result, screening of babies for jaundice efficiently and effectively is vital. Unlike a traditional blood test, the JM-105 is non-invasive and provides results in minutes rather than hours.
Our new service (MAPS – Maternity Antenatal Postnatal Service) is a model of care that delivers continuity and increased satisfaction to the woman birthing at Nepean Hospital. For the postnatal service, monitoring jaundice in the newborns is a requirement that the midwives have to undertake. As this is a new model of care that has been established, it is vital for the MAPS team to have a meter that they could use. Currently we loan the jaundice meter, but MAPS is going to be a team of 6 shortly, and one jaundice meter is not sufficient for the number of newborns that we are reviewing.
