This kit is an essential piece of resuscitation equipment and includes educational resources to train staff in its use. If access to a vein cannot be established during resuscitation of a baby or child, the EZ IO drill kit can be used to place a needle into one of the patient’s large bones. It takes about 10 seconds and can then be attached to a line through which lifesaving medication and fluids can be administered. An access point for fluid and medication is vital to the resuscitation process and has life-saving implications. Staff servicing Pintupi Homelands Health and surrounds will be better able to recognise deterioration and escalate care when faced with low frequency, high stakes scenarios.
