BILISOFT LED PHOTOTHERAPY SYSTEM, Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital, Neonatal Care, NSW (3 needed)
$14,600.00
Jaundice, detected as a yellowing of the skin and eyes, occurs in 50% of full-term babies and 80% of pre-term babies in their first week of life. Without prompt treatment, jaundice can cause cerebral palsy, deafness and/or brain damage. This machine uses phototherapy (exposure to fluorescent light bulbs or other light sources) to effectively treat the jaundice while at the same time enabling the parents to hold or feed their child without disturbing the therapeutic treatment in progress.
Shoalhaven Hospital is currently unable to fund the acquisition of GE Bilisoft 2.0 phototherapy blankets due to significant budget constraints and a lack of available funding. Despite the critical need for advanced phototherapy equipment in our neonatal unit and maternity ward, the financial resources allocated to their area health service are insufficient to cover the cost of these essential upgrades. With rising operational costs and competing demands for limited funds, the health budget prioritises immediate and pressing needs, leaving little room for capital investments in new technology. As a result, they are desperate for the equipment to ensure they can provide the highest quality of care to newborn patients.
