This equipment is used in the treatment of children's incontinence, specifically bed-wetting; designed to awaken the child, allowing the child to go to the toilet, and finish urinating. This works on the principle of behavioural conditioning where the brain is trained to respond to messages from the bladder and prevent bed wetting during sleep. Mareeba Hospital have a large number of referrals for children's incontinence issues, specifically bed wetting. This will enable their child health services to manage and input interventions to assist these children to overcome this issue. In many cases, if not corrected, this can be detrimental to their future psychological health.
