The requested equipment will enable the CLEARS team in collaboration with Paediatric, Neonatal, Emergency and Maternity staff to deliver high fidelity, evidence-based newborn assessment (examination of the newborn) training for medical, nursing and midwifery staff. Currently this training is only offered a few times per year, increased access to equipment at the regional sites will enable delivery of more frequent courses. These courses are open to NT Health and ACCHO sector staff. Simulation equipment and learning is now considered the gold standard in education. Access to a range of specialist training equipment will enable the delivery of specialized training courses to staff across the Top End of the Northern Territory. Currently, their limited access to manikins and smart tech is limiting both the quality and frequency at which they can deliver specialist information.
